The plan was to make a nice omelette with mushroom, spinach, and ham. I went out to the store and bought the freshest of ingredients. I prepped them and laid them out in the order I’d need them. I heated my pan and got cooking. Things were going well. I was mentally checking off each step of the recipe. Poured in my eggs and was starting to see the finished product come to fruition. It was time for the final task: flip. I had prepared for this. I had practiced before and now I was ready. Here we go. And, oh no! What happened? Let me try to salvage what I can. I’m making things worse! I’ve made such a mess of this. How did this happen? I buttered the pan. The eggs were done and ready to be flipped. I did everything exactly right! Then why did it turn out this way? Well there’s nothing left to do but to gather all the pieces onto a plate. What I have in front of me now is a plate of scrambled eggs instead of the omelette I envisioned. Whether or not it’s what I wanted, this is what I got. I have to make the most of it. Onward and upward! *takes a bite* It’s not bad. In fact it’s actually quite good! Although the quantity of food is the same, this scramble seems like much more food than I imagined. I’ll share it with someone else. So my dear friends, there’s more than one way to cook an egg ☺️. What you want isn’t always what you need. And don’t forget to share yours with someone else. It may just be the nourishment they need. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
